What makes change the beacon of a happy existence, one of which so many of us seek? We unconsciously make changes on a daily basis- even something as simple as changing your hair color or choosing how to spend your Friday night can alter the way you perceive tasks in different ways. Change, be it positive or negative, can be the cornerstone of a new chapter, broadening the horizon of what we never believed possible. However, we can endlessly make changes to accomodate and entertain our outer selves- the ‘shells’ of our souls- while experiencing subtle improvements. But have you ever asked yourself if you have reached your highest potential of happiness, and what current changes you could make to attain that goal? If you haven’t, I’d like to know your secret.
Truth is, our genuine potential lies within. And if our inner chemistry is unbalanced, how could we possibly be balanced externally and emotionally?
Solution: Raw, living, fresh nourishment, loaded with live enzymes to help us function properly. As I recall the days of late-night ice cream splurges with my big sis, I can’t even fathom how we functioned the following day. And now I realize: we didn’t. That is, we couldn’t function to our highest potential. Now that I have been eating raw for over a year and my body is no longer ‘polluted’, my thoughts are sharper, my body is lighter and full of boundless energy, and most importantly, I can approach the daily grind with a higher sense of self-worth and confidence.
You might find it hard to believe that something as simple as the food we ingest can affect every aspect of our lifestyle, but if you really think about it, what is the one constant that we must integrate into our daily schedule? Food, of course. Have you ever realized that our will and attitude to accomplish daily obligations- work, sleep, communication, exercise- ultimately reflects our nutritional choices?
I know several skeptics who would answer this question with justifications for their chosen unawareness of healthy living, a few including: inconvenience, higher cost, just another fad diet, family traditions, un-treatable ailments caused by genetics, etc. I am unfortunately aware that I cannot sway these people into believing otherwise, and as a result of several failed attempts, I have realized that patience is key and my frustration was affecting no one but myself. My lesson: If all else fails, lead by example and have faith that others will follow.
However, If I cannot convince these misguided souls into realizing that genetics have no effect on their asthma, or obesity, or acne…of one thing I can convince them: cost is never an issue.
I write this blog as an independent woman with a mediocre income; a woman who doesn’t want to jeopardize all of the glory that life – and raw cuisine- has to offer. It’s about time that we re-discover our self-worth, hidden many years ago in a now-dusty box on the top shelf. With one precise sweep of the hand, you gently whisk away the years of neglect from the lid, pry your fingers under the warped edges, and discover a treasure inside; a treasure that appears forgotten, yet still so familiar.
As human beings, we represent an endless spectrum of shapes and sizes, nationalities, religions, sexual orientations, political views… In our free country, we can alter several associated aspects of ourselves. One thing we cannot change? This singular body of which we have been blessed… unless, of course, cloning humans eventually becomes legal.
As of now, treat your body like a temple and care for it. We can’t expect to just give it a paint job and polish the floors every hundred years…right?
